One of our favorite moments on the cruise was when we visited a local pearl farm in Taha'a. We learned about the process of cultivating pearls and got to see some stunning pieces of jewelry made with these precious gems.

The Service

But it wasn't just the destinations that made this cruise special, it was also the service and amenities provided by Paul Gauguin. From gourmet dining options to an onboard spa and fitness center, everything was top-notch. We especially enjoyed the cultural activities offered, such as traditional Polynesian dance performances and craft workshops.

The ship itself was a luxurious floating paradise. Our stateroom had a private balcony where we could relax and take in the breathtaking views. And with only 332 guests on board, we never felt crowded or overwhelmed.

9 Essential Tips for Packing and Understanding Your Paul Gauguin Cruise!

Tip #1: Bring water shoes

Bring water shoes to safeguard your feet from coral, sea urchins, and similar hazards. You'll be engaging in numerous water activities, so they'll be essential!

Tip Review #2: 3 pm is the embarkation time.

They will NOT let you on early for showing up, so instead of standing in line like many will in the heat, be smart & get a late check-out at your hotel and have the driver bring you to the port no earlier than 3 pm. The ship’s top capacity is 332 guests so don’t worry about a long line-up. 

FYI, if you use Paul Gauguin’s included air package you can ignore this tip as they’ll bring you to the ship at the appropriate time**

Tip #3: To stay in Tahiti Before and After your Cruise - JET LAG

We would recommend staying in Tahiti BEFORE your cruise and not after, for a couple of REASONS:

1. We talked about this already but you can rest up and rid of the jet lag so as not to ruin the first couple of nights on the cruise.
2. So that once you are onboard you will appreciate the all-inclusiveness it offers especially after the price tags of everything you buy on the islands are shockingly steep.

Tip Review # 4: The spa’s steam room area is FREE of charge!!

Most people might not know this, but you can reserve a sauna/relaxation room in the spa for up to four people, completely free of charge, for an hour. How wonderful is that? We tried it once and found it incredibly relaxing!

On other ships, you'd typically have to pay to use such a facility.

Tip Review # 5: Paul Gauguin gives you a set of snorkeling gear for the entire cruise.

Best to go pick it up straight after the drill on Day 1 and NOT the next morning when the lines will be long.

Tip Review # 6: breakfast in your stateroom

Have breakfast in your stateroom on the balcony as you sail into Bora Bora and while the ship is sitting in Bora Bora have dinner reservations for “Le Grill” on the top deck to enjoy the views…

Tip Review # 7:  This is a BIGGIE.

Do NOT do what we did which was try to get into the “Le Grill” restaurant last minute especially while the ship sits in Bora Bora and Moorea only to be turned away!

We were disappointed. Be sure to make reservations once onboard to dine alfresco and savor the views at these beautiful locations.
