Disney Wish Cruise Ship Review: What It’s Really Like

Amazing Travel Destinations and Best Caribbean Resorts

by Blissful Travel Escapes | Aug 27, 2026 | Disney

The Disney Wish cruise ship is Disney Cruise Line's first Wish-class ship, and Blissful Travel Escapes has sailed it ourselves. It debuted July 14, 2022, and sails year-round from Port Canaveral, Florida on 3 to 4 night Bahamian itineraries. It carries 2,508 guests at double occupancy across 1,254 staterooms. The Wish introduced Disney Cruise Line's first-ever attraction at sea, the AquaMouse water coaster. Additionally, two sister ships have since joined it: Disney Treasure and Disney Destiny, with more on the way. It is genuinely one of the best-designed ships in the fleet. However, it is not flawless, and this review tells you both sides.

Is the Disney Wish a Good Ship?

Yes, with two real caveats worth knowing before you book. The Disney Wish replaced Disney Cruise Line's older art-deco design language with a Cinderella-and-enchantment theme, added the fleet's most technically

It offers advanced entertainment, such as projection mapping and Dolby Atmos in the Walt Disney Theatre, and debuted the AquaMouse. However, where it genuinely falls short of its older sisters: there is no dinner buffet. Marceline Market only serves breakfast and lunch. Therefore, every dinner is a sit-down reservation. The adults-only Quiet Cove pool area is roughly half the size of the equivalent space on Disney Dream or Disney Fantasy. Neither is a dealbreaker, but both are worth planning around. Furthermore, neither shows up in most marketing copy.

What's Dining Like on the Disney Wish? (Disney Wish Dining Guide)

Included in every fare, main dining rotates between three themed restaurants across your cruise: 1923, an Old Hollywood-inspired room; Worlds of Marvel; and Arendelle, a Frozen-themed dining room. Marceline Market is the casual buffet, but it only runs breakfast and lunch and there is no dinner buffet on Disney Wish. So every evening means a reservation at one of the rotational restaurants or a specialty venue. Specialty dining costs extra. This includes Palo Steakhouse and Enchante, an adults-only French restaurant helmed by three-Michelin-star chef Arnaud Lallement. Quick-service options around the pool deck cover the rest of the day.

The Bayou Disney Wish
As you might expect with a name like The Bayou, the lounge is themed to Disney's Princess and the Frog.

Disney Wish Staterooms and Cabins

Disney Wish has 1,254 staterooms across five decks of cabins. Of these, 948 have a private verandah, the largest share of any Disney ship at launch. Categories run from standard inside staterooms up to the Wish Tower Suite, a multi-story funnel suite that sleeps up to 8 guests. In between sit 53 Concierge Class staterooms and 23 Concierge Suites. These add a dedicated concierge lounge, priority reservations, and expanded in-room amenities. Every stateroom carries small, deliberate design touches. For example, Mickey silhouettes worked into lampshades and fixtures throughout the ship.

Entertainment, Kids Clubs, and Bars on Disney Wish

The Walt Disney Theatre seats 1,274 guests for full stage productions using projection mapping and Dolby Atmos sound. There are also two smaller screening rooms: Wonderland Cinema and Never Land Cinema. The AquaMouse is Disney Cruise Line's first-ever attraction at sea. It is a 760-foot water coaster with two storylines, Swiss Meltdown and Scuba Scramble, that riders can choose between. Hero Zone runs Marvel-themed interactive sports activities. Meanwhile, Luna functions as a family space by day and an adults-only venue by night.

Kids and teens have their own dedicated spaces. Disney's Oceaneer Club is for younger kids, Edge for ages 11 to 14, Vibe for ages 14 to 17, and the Hideaway as a quieter teen retreat. There is also an "it's a small world" nursery for guests 6 months to 3 years. Adults get 15 themed bars and lounges, including the Star Wars-themed Hyperspace Lounge, home to the Kaiburr Crystal, one of the most expensive cocktails at sea. The one adult space that's genuinely smaller than on older ships is Quiet Cove, the adults-only pool deck. This is worth knowing if a spacious adult pool area matters to your trip.

Where Does Disney Wish Sail? (Homeport and Itinerary)

Disney Wish sails year-round from Port Canaveral, Florida, primarily on 3 and 4 night Bahamian itineraries that call at Nassau and Disney's private island, Castaway Cay. If you're comparing Disney Wish itinerary options against its sister ships, Destiny and Treasure both also sail from Florida. However, they run longer Eastern and Western Caribbean routes in addition to Bahamian cruises. As a result, Wish is generally the pick for a shorter, easier long-weekend-style Disney cruise.

Disney Wish vs Disney Dream: Which Should You Book?

Disney Wish and Disney Dream both sail short Bahamian itineraries from Port Canaveral, so they get compared constantly. Here's the honest difference.

If you want the newest hardware, the AquaMouse, and the most current entertainment, book Wish. But if you'd rather have a dinner buffet option and a larger adults-only pool deck at a typically lower price, Dream is the better fit. This is especially true for families who value flexibility over novelty.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Disney Wish a good ship?

Yes. It has the most modern design and entertainment in the fleet and debuted the AquaMouse, Disney Cruise Line's first attraction at sea. Its real trade-offs are no dinner buffet and a smaller adults-only pool area than Disney Dream or Disney Fantasy. Both are worth planning around rather than reasons to skip it.

What is not free on Disney Wish?

Specialty dining (Palo Steakhouse and Enchante), alcoholic beverages, spa treatments, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, shore excursions, and WiFi packages all cost extra. For the full included-versus-extra breakdown that applies fleet-wide, see our Disney cruise inclusions guide.

How old is the Disney Wish cruise ship?

Disney Wish's maiden voyage was July 14, 2022. Therefore, it has been in service for a little over four years as of this writing, making it one of the newer ships in the fleet. Though Disney Treasure (2024) and Disney Destiny (2025) are now newer still.

How big is the Disney Wish cruise ship?

Disney Wish is 144,000 gross tons, 1,119 feet long, and carries up to 4,000 guests at maximum occupancy. It has 1,254 staterooms and 15 passenger decks.

Is Disney Wish suitable for couples without kids?

Yes, though it's worth knowing before you book that its adults-only Quiet Cove pool area is smaller than on Disney Dream or Disney Fantasy. Couples still get the adults-only Enchante restaurant, several adults-focused lounges including the Star Wars Hyperspace Lounge. Palo Steakhouse's brunch and dinner service are also available.

Where is the Disney Wish cruise ship currently?

Disney Wish sails year-round from Port Canaveral, Florida. So on any given day it's either in port there or partway through a 3 or 4 night Bahamian loop to Nassau and Castaway Cay.
